The Ten-cent Prexie

Cancellation or alteration of C.O.D. charges

Changing the terms of Collect on Delivery service cost ten cents from July 1, 1930 until March 26, 1944, and then again from November 1, 1944 until July 25, 1968.

This form was used by Bonwit Teller to cancel the collection of charges for merchandise sent in 1943. Apparently it was paid for before delivery. A ten-cent Prexie was used to account for the fee.

This form, used in 1956, has a different GPO form number and has slight changes in layout. It was airmailed to the Madison, West Virginia Postmaster by the Bear Archery Company, which was then in Grayling, Michigan.
