The Ten-cent Prexie

Airmail to and from Guantanamo

Prior to the six cent military concession rate of late 1941 the airmail rate to our base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba was ten cents per half ounce, the same as the rate to the rest of Cuba.

A cover mailed to Guantanamo in 1940. Though it is marked for air service to the exchange office, it is franked for airmail all the way.

Prior to the concession rate, airmail from Guantanamo to the U.S. was charged the same rate as from the U.S. to Cuba. This cover was mailed from Guantanamo in 1940.
