The Ten-cent Prexie

Special delivery charge on free mail

The charge for special delivery service was ten cents for all matter less than or equal to two pounds from April 15, 1925 and first class matter less than or equal to two pounds from July 1, 1928 until November 1, 1944. On any mail not otherwise requiring postage, the charge for special delivery would have been ten cents duting these periods.

This letter was sent free by a person on active duty in the military in 1944 using a solo ten-cent Prexie to pay the special delivery fee.
