The Ten-cent Prexie

Statement and Certificate of Bulk Mailing

Ten cents was the minimum fee for a Sender's Statement and Certificate of Bulk Mailing for 200 pieces of mail or less. The form and charges for such a statement have changed several times, and I am not aware of the exact period of use for this charge. Tony Wawrukiewicz has only been able to locate a reference in the Post Office Manual of 1952, but I have an example from 1945 with six three-cent Prexies paying the fee for 2,000 pieces of mail.

This example was used in 1957 to document mailing of 123 pieces, and the minimum certificate fee was paid with a solo ten cent Prexie.
