This cover was sent from Alaska to the Canal Zone in July of 1941. While Alaska was a territory at the time, it used the same postal rates as the continental U.S.

Mailed from a ship stationed at Balboa, Canal Zone, in 1940, the sender paid the fifteen-cent airmail rate to the continental United States.
