This cover was sent airmail, insured on May 11, 1948. It was also marked parcel post, but there were no special parcel post airmail rates until September 1 of that year.
There is no way to tell whether the item was sent at twice the five cent per ounce airmail rate plus fifteen cents for insurance from $25.01 to $50, or three times the airmail rate plus ten cents for insurance from $5.01 to $25.00.
