The Four-cent Prexie
Business Reply Mail
The business reply mail service charge was one cent from October 1, 1928 to July 1, 1957. Combined with the three-cent rate for first class postage in effect from July 6, 1932 until August 1, 1958 the total postage plus fee for one piece of mail was four cents from the beginning of the Prexie period until July, 1957.
A four-cent Prexie was used on this cover in place of a postage due stamp to pay the business reply postage and fee for one piece of mail in 1951.
