There appear to be two settings of this check. The one above has a dateline of 18__ and the one below, 188_. There are also a few minor design differences and the paper the top copy is printed on is thinner than that of the bottom copy.
However, the dateline and design differences, and yet a third variation, appear on three copies in Georgette Cornio's collection, all dated within days of each other. My conclusion is that they coexisted in the same print run rather than being different settings produced over a period of time.
